Design career

Recently, Design career was changed by a new programme. This programme seeks that students have the chance

to choose subject of graphic design and subjects of industrial design, so there is not difference between graphic

and industrial design. I consider myself as a graphic design student, and in my opinion, this programme put
so much effort on subjects that are related to industrial design. For example, I took a subject called “procesos y

prototipos II”, that the career’s authorities compromised that the subject would have a graphic design focus.

So that didn’t happen because they didn’t find a teacher for that. It was very frustrating for all of us, because

most of the subjects of this semester were focused on industrial design. I know, at university you don’t learn all

the things, but they could put more effort on that. Related to faculty facilities It is the same, industrial design

students have their own laboratory. On FAU, the places that are allowed to work are small and very dangerous,

specially if you are using tools.

In design, the workload is considerable. I mean, maybe It’s because every project is stressful, and it depends
on the teacher. Some teachers put so much pressure on students, and they really rude when something is not
what they want or what they like, or because they don’t like you. Teaching methods in design aren’t great.
I would like to read more about design, teachers would recommend some literature. In terms of use of
technology, I think we have good computers, but procesos y protipos’s laboratory is precarious.
